Do you get thirsty? Of course, you do. We all do! Do you ever wonder why a large glass of water just doesn't seem to quench your thirst?

If you answered, “yes” to these two questions, your body is trying to tell you something. It's telling you it's thirsty! But, it is also asking for vital nutrients.

Before I tell you about those vital nutrients and how easy it is to incorporate them, let me set a scene.

You're in your kitchen getting ready to cook some chicken. You decide to cook it plain chicken. No seasonings, marinades, salt, or pepper. You serve your plain chicken breasts to yourself and your family. After one bite, they all look up and you and say, "This tastes like nothing!"

This scenario may never happen. Why? Because we usually add herbs, spices, or marinades to our food, especially chicken. These additions make for a tasty dish, while also adding health benefits!

Water is similar to plain chicken. It too needs a boost from time to time.  This is because your body needs essential vitamins and minerals that are not found in a simple glass of water. These essential vitamins and minerals help your body absorb water. Yes, water needs help being transported into cells.

One of the easiest ways to aid in the transportation of water into the cells is with coconut water. Coconut water is high in calcium, potassium, magnesium, phosphorous and vitamin C. All of these vitamins and minerals are essential for our cellular absorption and health. When your cells are happy, you feel great!

Here's how to make your thirst-quenching elixir!

Add one-fourth cup coconut water to 6-8oz of water. Then drink!

Yup, it's that easy.

You may add more or less coconut water depending on your thirst and taste preferences.

A carton of coconut water will give you about a week of servings.

Buy 100% pure coconut water. The only ingredient needs to be coconut water. Avoid those that contain sugar and are from concentrate.

100% pure coconut water is jam-packed with essential minerals and vitamins. We don't need any extra fillers.

Another ingredient to add to our thirst-quenching elixir is freshly squeezed lemon or lime juice. I prefer fresh lemon juice to bottled lemon juice because you’re getting the juice right from the source!

Lemons and limes contain mineral salts and trace mineral salts that help your body to stay hydrated. These salts also aid in the detox and cleansing process of your liver, kidneys, spleen, thyroid, and bladder. Lemons and limes also contain the highest absorbable vitamin c, which is beneficial in immunity, but also ridding the body of pathogens while actively sick.

I love a glass of lemon water first thing in the morning and often mid-day.

As far as dosage, add as much as you’d like. For me, a fourth of a lemon is the perfect amount.

This thirst quenching elixir should be consumed as needed. One day you may only need one glass and the next day you may want two or three glasses. This enhanced water is suitable for anyone who is thirsty! It’s the perfect remedy before, during and after exercise, first thing in the morning, in the evening, and especially after a night of alcohol consumption or on a hot day.

<A quick note> When buying coconut water, please ensure that it is 100 coconut water and nothing else. Read the ingredients. Natural Flavors and artificial sugars are often included in coconut water. Simply put, are not "natural" at all. (You can read more about natural flavors here.)

With this in mind, try to limit your consumption of drinks like Gatorade and vitamin water, as they also contain natural flavors and other harmful chemicals.

Here are two brands that I personally drink.
